Logging In

After your access has been approved, you'll be prompted to generate an SSH key — see Connection & SSH keys for how. Once your key is registered, IREI's system administrators will let you know you're ready to log in.

Connecting to Elja

ssh uname@elja.hi.is
# Or if you're juggling multiple SSH keys:
ssh -i ~/.ssh/id_elja uname@elja.hi.is

Connecting to Stefnir

Stefnir has three login nodes for different purposes — see the Stefnir chapter for details.

Login node	Purpose
slogin1.rhi.hi.is	Normal login
slogin2.rhi.hi.is	Data transfer
slogin3.rhi.hi.is	X11 forwarding / visualization

ssh uname@slogin1.rhi.hi.is

Swap in slogin2/slogin3 for the other login nodes.
