Acquiring Access
IREI HPC is available to researchers at Icelandic universities and public research institutes, and to independent researchers whose work is funded by public grants.
Apply for access →Access is granted through one of two routes:
- Through the Rannís Infrastructure Fund, as part of an already-arranged project agreement.
- By direct application — submitted through the service portal, including a description of the project, the estimated time for completion, and the software/resources required.

Need more than 1TB of storage? Mention it in your application, with a reason.
Available Clusters
IREI provides four HPC clusters/partitions, each suited to different workloads — see each chapter for details:
- Elja — CPU & GPU cluster
- Mímir — high-memory cluster
- Jötunn
- Stefnir — rapid job throughput, short queues
